Using our material

Material published by Statistics Faroe Islands is available for everyone to use freely, subject to the terms and exceptions below.

Statistical data, tables, texts, charts and infographics from Statistics Faroe Islands are available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise stated. This covers material on hagstova.fo, in the statistical database at statbank.hagstova.fo, in presentations and other publications, and on our official social media accounts.

The material may be copied, shared, adapted and combined with other material for any purpose, including commercial purposes, without separate permission or a licence fee.

When publishing or sharing the material, you must credit Statistics Faroe Islands as the source. You must indicate whether the material has been changed or adapted. Where possible, also link to the original table or page.

Statistics Faroe Islands does not require users to mention CC BY 4.0 or link to the licence when reusing the material. The other conditions of CC BY 4.0 continue to apply.

Statistics Faroe Islands must be credited as the source of the original data, but not as the author of changes or calculations made by others. Your use must not imply that Statistics Faroe Islands has endorsed your adaptations, product or service.

Photographs

Photographs whose copyright is held by a third party are not covered by CC BY 4.0. This applies whether the photographs are used on hagstova.fo, on social media, in presentations, publications or other media.

Permission to reuse these photographs must be obtained from the rights holder, unless the use is otherwise permitted by law.

Logo

The Statistics Faroe Islands logo is not covered by CC BY 4.0. Others may only use the logo in connection with collaborative projects with Statistics Faroe Islands, such as joint publications, where its use has been agreed with us.

The statistical database at statbank.hagstova.fo and API access

The statistical database at statbank.hagstova.fo contains tables of statistics produced by Statistics Faroe Islands. Data can be retrieved both manually and automatically through the PxWeb API, for example to update your own systems regularly. The same terms of use apply to data retrieved through the API.

Please use the API considerately and exercise common sense, taking account of system performance and other users. Avoid unnecessarily frequent or large requests and repeated downloads of the same data.

Statistics Faroe Islands reserves the right to restrict API usage that places an excessive load on the system or disrupts access for other users. Such restrictions concern access to the API and do not change the CC BY 4.0 rights attached to data already retrieved.
